Police retract appeal over Louth Cemetery investigation

Lincolnshire Police have retracted their appeal for witnesses, following reports of ‘damage to gravestones’ in Louth earlier this month.

Police news

The police appeal said that, on Saturday April 3, there had been reports of several gravestones being ‘knocked over and damaged’ at the town’s cemetery.

However, in a statement this morning (April 12), a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We would like to retract the appeal as we have been informed that this was a genuine error rather than a criminal act.

“We would like to thank the public and the media for their support for the appeal.”
