Power lines cut for copper cable in Caistor area

Caistor Police say criminals involved in a cluster of incidents reported recently are ‘dicing with death’.

At various locations across the beat area, power lines have been cut in a bid to extract copper wiring.

Two unknown males were seen acting suspiciously in the Limber area at around 5pm on March 24. They were driving a blue Land Rover; no further details are known.

A large HGV Truck, with possibly a cherry picker on it, has been seen leaving different sites in the Riby area.

Five wooden poles have been cut down, but National Grid confirmed the cable had been left intact once the offenders found aluminium cable, not copper.

Anyone with any information or who sees suspicious activity is asked to phone 101.

However, if you see live cable down across the road call 999 and do not go any where near.
