Protecting the public is key aim of county's new head of crime

Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox is the new Head of Crime at Lincolnshire Police, having moved from the Metropolitan Police.

He said: “I am extremely proud to have joined Lincolnshire Police as Head of Crime, and excited by the challenge of leading a very talented team to protect our communities.

“My key priorities are safeguarding people and a renewed focus on domestic abuse offenders; serious violence and sexual offences; organised crime; and drugs, including County Lines.

“We will target the most active offenders, while protecting the public - in particular, those who are vulnerable.

“The public’s support is always vital as we fight crime, and I am really supportive of their efforts.”

Andy led the Met’s Vision Zero operation – a partnership with Transport for London and the Mayor of London, which has already helped to cut the number of fatalities on the capital’s roads.

Having first joined Surrey Police in 1999, Andy was a Detective Sergeant when he joined Northamptonshire Police in 2005.

He stayed there until 2016, becoming a Detective Superintendent in the process, before joining the Metropolitan Police.

In those roles, he has worked in Major Crime, firearms and as a Public Order commander. He is also the National Lead for Collision Investigation.

Andy, who is 43, was born on the Isle of Wight and has two sons, aged 18 and 21.

He is also interested in sport, particularly cricket, and is a supporter of Southampton Football Club.
