Rasen attack '˜an isolated incident' say police

West Lindsey's policing Inspector has spoken out to reassure residents after a man was attacked in Market Rasen in the early hours of Sunday.

The man, who is in his 30s, was seriously injured by attackers who smashed a window to get into his property in Market Rasen’s King Street.

West Lindsey Community Policing Inspector Simon Outen said: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding an assault that occurred in the area of King Street, Market Rasen, in the early hours of Sunday, September 18.

“Investigations so far indicate that this was an isolated incident that does not involve the wider Market Rasen community at all.”

And Insp Outen is urging members of the public to come forward it they have any information about the incident.

He said: “As always, if 
anybody has any information that may help with the enquiry, then they can contact Lincolnshire Police on 101.”

The incident, which saw part of King Street cordoned off, happened at about 3.20am. It is believed two men carried out the attack.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “This incident happened at around 3.20am on Sunday morning and we have this as a GBH assault – a window was smashed to gain entry to the property and the occupant received serious injuries.”

The injured man is being treated at Lincoln County Hospital. Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 61 of September 18.
