The Local Community Panel for Sleaford neighbourhood policing is to meet online for the first time due to the Covid-19 restrictions and they are seeking residents’ views on issues in the town.

The meeting will be held on Monday, November 23 from 1pm to 2pm on the Town Council’s Zoom internet facility.

Town Councillor and Deputy Mayor Robert Oates will chair the meeting.

In the first part, PC Martin Derbyshire, the town’s Community Beat Manager, will give an update on police priorities for the coming months. Then PC Derbyshire and colleagues will respond to questions from councillors and the public about law enforcement in the town, including the Neighbourhood Policing Team’s priorities for the winter quarter.

These have been listed as:

* Anti-social behaviour in Sleaford Castle Ward

* Drug supply and taking

* Inconsiderate use of motor vehicles

Anyone who lives or works in Sleaford is welcome to join the meeting.

To book your e-mail Sleaford Town Council at [email protected]. There will be a limited number of places available to enable the Town Council to manage the meeting. But the meeting will be recorded and available on the council’s website afterwards for anyone to view.

Residents are encouraged to e-mail in advance their questions or comments about crime, anti-social behaviour and policing in Sleaford to Coun Oates at [email protected] by Monday November 16.

Councillor Oates will then select a representative sample of questions to put to PC Derbyshire and his colleagues in the meeting. Due to the potential numbers attending, it will not be possible to ask questions on the day.

Councillor Oates said: “Covid-19 has forced us to have this Local Community Panel meeting over the internet. But there is a silver lining as hopefully more people will be able to participate from their own home or workplace.

“We hope to have an interesting range of questions and comments coming in about policing in the town.”

PC Derbyshire said: “I am looking forward to this new opportunity for communicating with the people of the town and hearing their views. This type of interaction with the community is valuable to us in helping to reduce the fear of crime and to tackle criminal and anti-social behaviour.”
