Smooth Criminal…? Shoplifter Michael Jackson picks up ban
Michael Jackson, a shoplifter from Market Rasen, has been given an order banning him from entering retail premises in the town.
Jackson, 50, of King Street, may no longer be a ‘Smooth Criminal’ after he was handed a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) by Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday (December 8) to prevent him from offending in stores in the town, according to Lincolnshire Police.

The conditions on the CBO ban him from entering any retail premises in Market Rasen except Premier Shop in Union Street, Market Rasen and Boots the Chemist.
He was also given a 16-week sentence suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay £64.40, given 20 recovery and rehabilitation days and a six months drug rehabilitation requirement.

At the hearing he was convicted of seven counts of thefts from various shops in Market Rasen. Four counts on various dates in October 2025 and three counts on various dates in November 2025 amounting to £588.80 in goods.
A police statement commented: “He thought he could ‘beat it’, but our local Neighbourhood Policing Team soon arrested him and brought him to justice.”
