Sutton on Sea teenager drove under the influence of cannabis

A Sutton on Sea teenager has lost his driving licence after being arrested for driving under the influence of cannabis.

Jamie Barker, 19, of Alford Road, admitted driving his Volvo car in Alford Road at 10.40pm on April 28 with a reading of 6.3 micrograms of cannabis in his blood, with the legal limit being two micrograms.

Marie Stace, prosecuting at Boston Magistrates’ Court on November 4, said Barker told police he had last smoked cannabis at around 3am the previous night.

Mitigating, Justin Atkinson said Barker would lose his employment as he lived half an hour’s drive away from his place of work.

Barker was banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay a fine of £300 and court costs and charges of £119.
