Police crews that specialise in traffic policing and armed response tweeted that they were enjoying an early morning coffee at Sleaford, but they could not believe what they were seeing when a drunk driver cruised by them.

They said: “A car then went straight through the drive thru, then tried parking and mounted the curb, then attempted to go the wrong way down the drive thru.”

Officers quickly headed over to prevent the driver causing any more serious harm.

They said: “The driver was nearly four times over the drink drive limit and arrested.”

They thanked local officers based at Sleaford who took over handling the breath test of the driver at Grantham Police Station, as the ARV crew were called away to a potential firearms incident.
