Two Boston men jailed over persistent offending after facing 26 charges in total

Two Boston men who repeatedly flouted court orders designed to tackle offending have been sent to prison after facing a total of 26 charges.

David Titley, 45, of Lincoln Lane, Boston, appeared before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 11) on 10 charges – four counts of shop theft and six breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

All items were stolen from Boston’s branch of Tesco, between January 7 and February 4.

The offences breached the conditions of a 22-week suspended prison sentence handed to Titley on November 14 for multiple shop thefts and breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), police said.

After admitting the latest offences, he was given an immediate custodial sentence totalling 64 weeks. He was also ordered to pay compensation totalling £311.

Boston’s Neighbourhood Policing’s Community Beat Manager PC Pratt said: “Titley has continued to cause significant disruption to local businesses by repeatedly breaching his CBO and targeting retail stores.

“Despite being subject to conditions aimed at preventing further offending, he consistently disregarded these restrictions and committed multiple thefts.

“His actions have had a tangible impact on shop staff, business owners, and the wider community, resulting in financial losses and ongoing concern among retailers. This case demonstrates the consequences of persistent offending and reinforces our commitment to enforcing court orders to protect local businesses.”

On the previous day, Simon Bisby, 50, of Lincoln Lane, Boston, appeared at the same court on 16 charges – eight counts of shop theft and eight breaches of a CBO.

The eight thefts were committed at London Road Bakery and Farm Foods, in Boston, and the Co-op, in Heckington, over a period of about a week, between January 30 and February 6.

Bisby was jailed for eight months and ordered to pay £389.92 in compensation.

“Despite clear restrictions imposed by the court to prevent further offending, he continued to disregard these conditions on several occasions,” a spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said. “His persistent non-compliance undermined efforts to reduce crime and protect local businesses and the wider community.”

Boston's Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Ian Cotton added: “Determined action was taken by our officers to address these breaches, reinforcing that court orders are in place to safeguard the public and will be robustly enforced.”
