UPDATE: Louth man remanded in custody over alleged attempted robbery

UPDATE (Monday afternoon) - Following his hearing at Lincoln Magistrates' Court this morning (Monday), Gary John Cartwright has been sent for trial at Lincoln Crown Court on June 29. He was remanded in custody.

A Louth man is due to appear in court this morning (Monday) to face four charges - including attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Gary John Cartwright, 44, of Northgate, is alleged to have attempted to rob the Premier Express convenience store of money and goods yesterday (Sunday).

He has also been charged with the possession of an offensive weapon, namely an axe, in a public place (Newmarket) on the same day.

Cartwright faces two further charges relating to the same day: driving a motor vehicle while disqualified, and driving without valid third-party insurance.
