Update: Man charged with murder after fatal stabbing in Skegness

Paul Bodell, 37, of Grosvenor Road, Skegness, has been charged with the murder of local man Paul Barnett, aged 45.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Mr Barnett sadly died after receiving a fatal injury on the evening of September 22.

“Bodell has been remanded to appear at court via video link today (Friday, September 25).”

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “We arrested Paul Bodell on suspicion of murder on Wednesday morning.

“He has now been charged with the murder of Mr Barnett who sadly lost his life after receiving a fatal injury.

“We would like to thank the people of Skegness for their support with our investigation.

“We do believe this was an isolated incident in which both the suspect and victim were known to one another.

“Investigations are on-going and we continue to appeal for anyone with any information to contact us.”

Lincolnshire Police have launched a murder investigation after a stabbing took place on Grosvenor Road.The incident took place at around 11pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 22), where a 45 year old man was brutally attacked and later pronounced dead at the scene.

A section towards the end of Grosvenor Road, near Roman Bank, remains closed whilst police investigations continue.

A 37 year old man has since been arrested for the murder.

According to a force statement, he remains in custody and will be questioned shortly.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “We understand people will be concerned and officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area.

“A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and will be questioned in due course. He remains in custody.

“Our officers will also remain in the area today assisting with our investigation.

“We are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area between 10pm and 11.15pm on Tuesday evening to contact us.

“We would also appeal for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area between these times to contact us.”
