UPDATE: Plea from partner of woman injured in hit and run in Chapel St Leonards

The partner of a 27-year-old woman seriously injured in a hit and run in Chapel St Leonards has made a heartfelt plea for the driver to come forward.

Danielle Clarke was walking along St Leonards Drive with her dog and two children (aged two and a half and 18 months) shortly before 1pm on Monday when she was struck by the car.

Her partner, Sam Ellis, said: “If the car had swerved I could have lost my whole family, or my children could have been left without a mother.

“I can understand the driver being shocked but what I cannot believe is that he drove off and left her. Driving off is unacceptable. It is socially and morally wrong.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Danielle was near to the junction with Palmer Court, when she stepped off the pavement and was struck by the vehicle travelling west along St Leonards Drive.

She was able to continue walking for a few meters to call for help and was later taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital, where her condition is described as serious but stable.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information is asked to call PC James Latto on 101 and quoting incident number 151 of 29th February.
