Update: Police investigate armed robbery at Louth convenience store

Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at the Premier Express Store in Newmarket, Louth, at the weekend.

Between 9am and 9.20am yesterday morning (Sunday), a man entered the store and threatened members of staff with an axe.

The man demanded cash, but was challenged by staff members. He then fled the scene empty-handed.

He got into a red Fiat Punto, which headed in the direction of Upgate. There was another man in the car.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at around the time of the incident."
