Vandals banned from pubs after Tiamo attack

Tables and chairs, trellis and planters were damaged outside Tiamo restaurant in the Market Place on the night of the match, prompting anger from many locals who raised hundreds in donations and offered assistance for devastated owner Sam Pavlou to get back on her feet.

Sgt Stuart Mumby-Croft announced on Wednesday: “I can confirm that both suspects have been identified and spoken to by police and are being dealt with for causing that damage.

“Further, both suspects have this week been issued with bans from all pubs and bars in the Sleaford area thanks to their clear demonstration of how they behave after too much to drink. Another ban is being served today (Wednesday July 29) on a male who was aggressive and abusive to bar staff when drunk in Sleaford over the weekend.”

He commented: “If you cannot handle your drink and you cause issues in the town centre on a night out, we will work with Pub Watch and seek to take your choice to go out, get drunk and cause problems out of your hands.”

On the whole, Lincolnshire Police said it had been a quiet night with only 25 football-related incidents reported in the county.

Sam Pavlou had commented: “We have had people turning up with drills willing to put stuff up and take things down and even driving over to Grantham to get the exact same trellis to replace it.

She said it is a “kick in the teeth” after everything hospitality businesses have endured through the pandemic.

“I’m so grateful for everything that people are doing, but it should not be the members of the public that pay for this. I want the people that did it to give the money and be held responsible for what they have done. If they apologise that will be it - finished.

“Why should other people pay for their ridiculous, reckless behaviour?”
