The damage was reported by East Lindsey District Council this afternoon, with a post on social media which stated: “Wow! Our Neighbourhood teams have been busy again, this time planting a design in Mablethorpe to commemorate 75 years since VE Day and a ‘thank you’ to the NHS.

“Just think how it will look when it’s all in full bloom (don’t worry, we’ll show you over the next few weeks).

“Oh, but look what happened overnight... vandals decided to tear up the flowers and discard whiskey and beer bottles amongst the plants too.”

The Alford & Mablethorpe policing team added: “We are aware there was a beach party last night, and this damage has been done overnight near the same location with alcohol bottles discarded.

“If anyone has any information please get in touch - or, if you decided to try and be clever when a bit drunk, then let’s be grown ups today and come forward so we can get this made right.”
