Warning after £25k stolen in online scam
Police officers have issued a scam warning after £25,000 was stolen from a property in Horncastle recently.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Please be aware that £25,000 was recently stolen from a property in Horncastle while the residents were at home.
“Access was gained through the persons laptop while they were using it as they thought they were talking to someone from Amazon who was offering them a year for free Amazon Prime.
“Their laptop was hacked and passport details were stolen as well.
“Please do not engage with any cold callers via the phone, laptop or door as you could become a victim.”
