Willoughby man banned from driving for three years

A man from Willoughby, near Alford, has been disqualified from driving for three years after he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

Rick Byrne, 56, of Station Road, committed the offence on Station Road on February 21 this year, and he was found to have 67 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in his system. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Byrne pleaded guilty to the offence at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court when he appeared on October 20.

Byrne was disqualified from driving for 36 months, although this can be reduced by a period of 36 weeks if he completes a course.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay a further £85 in court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

His guilty plea was taken into account by the court when imposing its sentence.
