Crowle children helping the less fortunate

Boxing clever are children at St Norbert’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy in Crowle who have been busy this term raising awareness and funds for children less fortunate than themselves in this country and overseas.

In October, as part of their harvest celebration, youngsters raised over £400 through the sale of cakes, refreshments and donations.

This was split between Faith in Families, a UK based voluntary adoption charity who believe that every child has the right to grow up as part of a loving and nurturing family, and CAFOD, the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

CAFOD helps to bring hope and compassion to poor communities, end poverty and injustice and work for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world for those of all faiths or none.

In addition, the children have also taken part in ‘Operation Christmas Child’ – the Samaritan’s Purse appeal for shoe boxes of Christmas gifts for children in need overseas.

A spokesman for the school said: “St Norbert’s have already received Level 1 of the Rights Respecting Schools Award.

“This recognises success in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of the school. “

They added: “We are continuing to progress towards level 2 accreditation.”
