Crowle equestrian centre plans

Proposals are in the pipeline to turn former Violet Hill Nurseries in Eastoft Road into an equestrian centre after years standing derelict.

Jason Thorpe of Maple Avenue, Crowle, is brains behind the planning application, which includes an indoor and outdoor arena, which has been submitted to North Lincolnshire Council for approval.

He told Bells exclusively: “We are planning an equestrian centre up there, my girlfriend is an equestrian and we have 14 horses at the moment.

“There’s going to be education facilities, various outdoor activities, horse riding, jumping, trekking, you name it.

“We will also be running a school up there teaching youngsters about horse care and management.”

He added: “In the future we will be looking at progressing it to countryside sports, maybe shooting and archery.

“It’s going to be a fun place to be, that’s the plan.”

Mr Thorpe, who bought the site in September, explained that he was expecting NLC to come back with a decision on the matter by mid February with a view to having the facility up and running by April.

He added: “It’s a mess down there. It was a nursery that has been left to rack and ruin for a couple of years

“We have already had quite a lot of local support.”
