Caistor Town Council clerk, Helen Pitman, who has been involved in working towards greater promotion of the Caistor area, said: “Securing this event is a fantastic achievement for this area and will help put us on the map.

“I have been working with partners over a number of years to promote green tourism in and around Caistor, and I am very happy that the Tour of the Wolds has been confirmed as part of British Cycling’s 2017 events calendar.

“It would be fantastic if this could become an annual event.”

Town Council chairman, Carol Mackenzie added: “Caistor has a vibrant community spirit and I am sure that this amazing event will be extremely well supported by our residents, as well as by our town centre retail businesses.

“Caistor has become a key partner, together with Louth, Horncastle and Market Rasen in promoting the Lincolnshire Wolds as many walkers and cyclists have already discovered.”
