Date for dog ban meeting in village
A date for a public meeting has been set to discuss a controversial decision to ban dogs off leads on a village playing field.
Heckington parish council put up new signs a year ago reinforcing the ban on their sports field but some dog owners are said to be flouting a restriction to only walk dogs on leads within a 5m wide perimeter strip to prevent fouling on pitches and incidents where dogs could cause distress.
Councillors agreed on Monday to a meeting in the village hall on November 25 at 7pm to explain its reasons and allow others to comment.
