There had been flood damage on the route around Wrangle and Friskney, where part of the sea bank allowed salt water into farmland.

However, organisers have spoken out to say the run will still go ahead, albeit with a slightly different route between Wrangle and Friskney to avoid the flood damage.

They said farmers have agreed to allow the marathon to take different routes. Entry is £20 adult and £5 under 16s. The Assembly Rooms will be used as a registration centre on the day.

Proceeds from the event will go to a charity of the runner’s choice and MacMillan Cancer Support.
