A spokesman for East Lindsey District Council confirmed that the creature, which is about five metres in length, had been reported to the coastguard.

They said the whale was found near to Sea View Carpark and indications were that it had been deceased for some time.

The whale has been cordoned off and ELDC are in the process of getting the permits required to remove it from the beach ‘as quickly as possible’, however, it could take a few days.

Earlier this year three sperm whales washed up on East Lindsey coastline – the council spokesman said the authority was not linking them at this time due to the difference in species.
