A bumper hamper of food items and more than £200 have been donated to the food bank at Sleaford’s New Life Church following a charity effort by 2160 Sleaford Squadron.

With the squadron only able to operate virtually for most of the last nine months, co-ordinating the effort proved something of a challenge. Donations for the food collection could not be made at squadron headquarters due to lockdown restrictions, so, observing social distancing requirements, an alternative collection point was arranged at the officer commanding’s home.

This week, Officer Commanding Flt Lt Karen Turner, and one of the unit’s most senior cadets, Cadet Warrant Officer Jayne Morley, were able to bring the collection together, as pictured.

Flt Lt Turner said: “This has been a major effort by all the team at 2160; we are part of this community and wanted to help others in some way. Given the limitations we are all working under, I am hopeful this small contribution will go some way towards helping those most in need in the Sleaford area.”
