Derbyshire: Residents urged to learn something new this summer

Residents are being invited to sign up to learn something new this summer with Derbyshire County Council Adult Community Education Service. There are more than 2,000 daytime and evening courses and activities on offer this year providing opportunities for people to study for new qualifications or explore new hobbies and interests.

Saturday workshops and shorter courses are also available for people who do not want to commit to a whole term and the online course-search has been revamped to help learners find the right course for them.

Derbyshire County Council Deputy Cabinet Member for Children and Young People Councillor Damien Greenhalgh said: “We have an excellent choice of courses on offer and I hope that people will be inspired to join us and learn something new, brush up on their skills or revitalise a past hobby.”

“We also have lots of opportunities for those who want to improve their job prospects and as well as our many free courses we’ve kept costs as reasonable as possible to make sure everyone can take part.”

Subjects include arts and crafts, baking, garden design and many more.
