Dinnington: Consultations draw to a close for residents to have their say about the proposal of 1300 new homes being built

Consultations are drawing to a close for residents to have their say about 1,300 new homes to be built in Dinnington.

The new developments which will see 14,000 new homes being built across Rotherham will form part of Rotherham Council’s planning blue print for the next 15 years.

Dinnington,North Anston, South Anston and Laughton Common have been the places named which will see the housing developments.

The new development will form part of Rotherham Council’s planning blue print for the next 15 years.

It is hoped the new houses in Dinnington will improve the town’s range of retail and service provision, reduce vacancies and improve townscape and landscaping.

Overall the core strategy of the project includes a target of around 14,000 new houses to be built across Rotherham.

Andy Duncan, planning policy manager at Rotherham Council, said the proposed sites for these homes, together with sites for economic growth, are the subject of the latest consultation.

He added: “Anyone interested in the future development of the borough should take a look at this document. Having a Local Plan in place is vital for a number of reasons. We need to provide sufficient, good quality homes and decent affordable housing as well as providing employment land -and we need the views of the public. Interested parties have until Monday, November 24, in which to make their comments.”

The council has been holding drop in sessions in Dinnington informing the residents about plans to build the new homes and industrial units over the next 15 years.

So far there has been four drop in sessions and on Thursday 13th November there will be a third one at Wickersley Community Centre.

Additional areas of land have also been identified for potential development needs beyond the Plan Period.
