Paul Thomas Barnes (38), no fixed abode, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.

He admitted handling items stolen during a burglary at a house in Palmers Way, Thurcroft on 30th September.

Barnes was seen by officers on patrol in Thurcroft on 1st October with a rucksack and trolley containing the stolen items – a TV, safe, watches and coats.

He ran off from officers but was arrested three days later on 4th October.

Investigating officer PC Adam Broughton said: “The victim in this case was particularly vulnerable so I am satisfied Barnes pleaded guilty to his crime.

South Yorkshire Police will do everything in its power to protect the vulnerable members of our community.”
