Diploma joy for '˜dedicated' Lelde

Lelde Plesahas been awarded a diploma in project management by the Government-backed organisation AXELOS.

Lelda, who works as a multilingual coordinator and Latvian/English interpreter for PAB Translation, studied for her PRINCE2 qualification at the University of Lincoln while working full-time and bringing up a young family.

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a globally recognised project management qualification; it was developed by AXELOS, a professional qualifications company jointly owned by the Cabinet Office and Capita.

Lelde said: “I’m very excited to have gained a new qualification, especially one which is so widely recognised. As well as studying the design, development and management of projects we also learned how to deliver them on time which was really interesting.

“However, I also found it very challenging as the terminology was quite technical and difficult to understand, especially given that English is not my first language!”

As well as studying for a PRINCE2 qualification and working full time, Lelde is doing an NVQ Level 2 in management and leadership. The 27-year-old also has a two-year-old daughter, Mia.

“It can be quite tricky juggling home and work life but my parents and my partner are incredibly supportive,” she said. “They are very proud of my achievements and keen for me to do well in my career. I do have to make sacrifices and some nights I’ve stayed up till 3am studying but for me it’s worth it as I’m really passionate about my job.”

PAB Translation’s managing director Iwona Lebiedowicz paid tribute to Lelde’s character.

She said: “Lelde has been with the company for five years and is a very ambitious and dedicated member of our team as well as a very hard-working mum.”
