Disability charity’s plea to motorists over disabled parking ban

A DISABILITY charity has urged people to voice their concerns over imminent plans to ban parking in Worksop Town Centre.

Notts County Council will soon be launching a pilot traffic order banning all motorists from parking on Bridge Street and Bridge Place.

Disability Nottinghamshire development officer Simon Bernacki said the order has no concessions for people with blue badges to wait, access or park in these areas.

“The council refers to monitoring the order once it is in place to see what impact it is having,” he said.

“This is the next opportunity to try and influence the traffic order by ensuring individuals who need to access these areas due to mobility needs contact the county council with their concerns.”

“I appreciate this is not the desired result and we will continue to challenge the council over the decision to put a blanket ban on all vehicles accessing this part of town but need your help as well.”

Mr Bernacki urged people to contact portfolio holder for transport and highways Coun Richard Jackson as he has the power to revoke the traffic order.
