Disorderly Church Warsop drunk warned to curb boozing

Dale Pickering admitted offences on February 27, March 8 and 10, as well as assaulting the officer on the way to the station.

This put him in breach of a conditional discharge imposed for being drunk and disorderly, imposed in September last year.

James Whyley, mitigating, said “This is entirley out of Mr Pickering’s usual course of behaviour.

“He was always regarded as a sensible, intelligent lad who never stepped out of line.

“Everything went awry when he broke up with his partner two years ago. He started drinking to deal with that. His family remain supportive.”

He said Pickering had spent six days in the cells since his last arrest because “he was in a very poorly state”, and was prescribed medication.

Cheryl Nisbet, of the probation service, said: “His family will give him one more chance. He knows that if he carries on like this it will affect his relationship with his two-year-old child.”

Pickering, 28, of Bishops Walk, Church Warsop, was given a 12 month community order, with five days of rehabilitation, and a six month alcohol treatment programme, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Thursday.

He must also pay £85 costs and £85 compensation to the officer.
