Distraction theft at Louth's indoor market

Three people are reported to have committed a '˜distraction theft' at a card shop in Louth's indoor market hall.

The offence took place at the Cards For All Occasions shop in the New Market Indoor Shopping Centre at around 3.45pm yesterday (Wednesday June 7).

It is reported that two ‘scruffy-looking’ women got the attention of the shopkeeper, while a third woman stole the shopkeeper’s purse and an undisclosed amount of money from the till.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 390 of June 7.

Nearby business owners who may have CCTV facilities are also asked to get in touch.

Meanwhile, local woman Elaine Christian has placed a collection jar at Cards For All Occasions, and is asking members of the public to pop in and donate £1 each to support the shopkeeper and help to cover some of her losses.
