Distressed dog rescued from Gainsborough car

A DOG had to be smashed free from a car by police in Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough, on Tuesday evening.

At around 6.30pm officers were called by staff who were concerned about a dog that had been trapped in a car for a number of hours.

A window had been left slightly open, but not enough. And the dog was dehydrated and extremely distressed.

By 7.30pm officers decided to smash a window to remove the dog.

The owner later collected the animal from Gainsborough Police Station. The matter was reported to the RSPCA.

Lincolnshire Police are warning dog owners not to leave animals in cars for long periods during hot weather.
