Table top sale - The United Methodist Church in Silver Street is holding a table-top Sale on Saturday from 10am to midday.

There will be the usual stalls, plus a raffle and refreshments.

There are a few stalls still available and anyone wishing to book can call Lorna on 01526 342333.

Neighbourhood plan - This is an opportunity for residents to help shape where they live and the choice of new homes, shops, offices, where other development might be built, plus local green spaces.

Coun Martin Foster asked for community support four years ago but this did not progress.

In December 2014, the town council applied to become a neighbourhood plan area with Coun Phil Brown taking on the task of organising a steering group.

After a consultation, no objections were raised and Coningsby was designated a neighbourhood area in February 2015.

At the recent council meeting, councillors showed their concern and disappointment that having their own neighbourhood plan seemed to have gone cold.

Coun Mair, who had been chairing the group, endorsed their feelings.

He went on to inform the council that a questionnaire was almost ready for distribution and this could be done soon.

He will get copies to the council for approval and any input can be added before sending out.

“The Government keeps moving the goal posts,” he said. “And with frightening stories like Horncastle spending £47,000 to be told their plan is not adequate, the worry is that we will be unable to produce a workable document in time.”

Rubbish - Town councillors’ thanks have gone to students from The Barnes Wallis Academy for their community spirit.

The clerk mentioned to head teacher David Lancaster that there had been rubbish littered on the Butts Bridge and down the grassy bank at the side.

A team of students has now cleared up the rubbish.

Donington on Bain

Council - The next parish council meeting is on Monday, February 22, with a public forum from 7.20pm.

HEMINGBY

Breadmakers - The monthly bread making sessions in the village hall are proving to be very popular.

Having started by making Paul Hollywood’s tea cakes in January, at the next meeting on Monday, February 22, they will be trying their hand at producing bread sticks.

The cost is £2 per session, starting at 9am and there are spaces still available. Call Di Stephenson on 01507 578695 for details.

Church lunch - Bookings are being taken for the annual St Margaret’s Church lunch, which will take place on Sunday, March 13.

GOULCEBY

Vacancies filled - The vacancy for a part-time clerk to Asterby and Goulceby Parish Council has been filled.

Michelle Moss, who has also been clerk to Scamblesby Parish Council since last year, has replaced Alice Hodgson, who served as clerk to the council since 1994.

There was just one applicant for the councillor vacancy for the Goulceby parish created by the resignation of Ian Peet and Damon Arrand of Asterby was co-opted as the new member.
