Do you have information about suspicious incidents in Broomhill?

Two incidents were reported to police on Tuesday 24 February on Melbourne Avenue.

At 10.30am an 18-year-old woman reported a man attempted to grab her bag. Just 15 minutes later a 20-year-old woman reported a man walked alongside her and asked her the time before making a lewd comment.

In both incidents, the offender is described as Asian, around 20-years-old, 5ft 6ins tall, of large build and clean shaven.

He was wearing a distinctive black and turquoise anorak with the hood up. A CCTV image of the jacket was captured but unfortunately, the camera did not capture the alleged offender’s face.

A 45-year-old woman was walking along Newbould Lane at around 10am on Friday 27 February when a man walked towards her and exposed himself.

The man is described as mixed race, around 19-years-old, 6ft tall, with short black hair and a thin beard around the edge of his face. He was wearing black clothing.

A fourth incident occurred on Northumberland Road at 2.35am on Saturday 28 February when a man approached a 20-year-old woman and exposed himself and made lewd remarks.

He is described as black, around 30-years-old with curly hair and a black jacket.

A 17-year-old girl was walking to school at 8.45am on Friday 6 March when she was approached on Fulwood Road by a man who asked her a number of questions. She walked away and it was later reported by the school.

He is described as Asian, 25 to 35-years-old, 5ft 8ins, of average build, with a full beard that extends beyond the face, short black hair and black zip necked unmarked fleece.

Inspector Naomi Saxton said: “We are taking these reports seriously and have increased our patrols in the area at key times and carrying out a number of enquiries.

“However, other than the first two incidents there is no information to suggest they are linked, at this time, but police are keeping an open mind, and monitoring any suspicious incidents in the area.

“We are asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police.”
