British Transport Police want the public’s help to identify a man after a violent assault at Lincoln railway station.

Detectives previously appealed for information and released CCTV images of a man they wanted to identify in connection with the assault which took place on Wednesday 11th April 2012.

Since the appeal, enquiries have been ongoing and another, clearer, CCTV image has today been released.

Det Sgt Bill Henry, investigating the incident, said: “Following an altercation onboard the 16.19 Scunthorpe to Lincoln service the two men involved left the train at Lincoln station.”

“One of the men is then thought to have hit the other on the head from behind as he walked past the taxi rank. As a result the man fell to the floor, hitting his head on the side of a taxi as he dropped to the ground. He was then stamped on and was required to attend hospital to be treated for cuts and bruising.”

DS Henry added: “This was a violent assault by an attacker who prolonged his aggression on a man who was almost unconscious on the floor.”

“After ongoing enquiries, we have seized more CCTV and hope the public can help us in identifying this man.”
