Donation from Skegness Hospital Watch helps stroke patients

Skegness Hospital Watch presented a cheque to the Stroke Unit at Pilgrim Hospital Boston for four tablet computers which will cut out paperwork and speed up results.

The money was raised in a number of ways by the fundraisers, including a marathon walk from Skegness to Boston.

Geoff Poulter, of Skegness Hospital Watch, says the presentation was especially important to him as  he is a former stroke  patient,

He said: “We knew the unit needed this equipment and they were flabbergasted we were able to get it so  quickly.”

Over the past six years Skegness Hospital Watch has raised over £100,000 to help hospitals in Skegness and Boston.

He said: “I suffered a stroke seven years ago on holiday and had such tremendous help in Weymouth where it happened. From then on I wanted to do something. Our aim is to simply keep these services running. We are a self-funding organisation that relies on public support and we are so grateful for the generosity of so many local people and groups.”

Colleen Norris of the Stroke Unit said: “We have a great relationship with Skegness Hospital Watch. They have supported us with our fundraising events and also have raised money for us.

“They recently presented us with a cheque for £2,364 which has enabled us to buy four tablet computers to input data to ensure our patients receive the best possible care during their stay with us.

“Without Skegness Hospital Watch and Geoff, we probably wouldn’t have been able to buy this equipment and we cannot thank him and other committee members enough.”
