Louth's Cancer Research shop is low on donations and the team is desperate for quality clothes, books, toys, DVDs and other household items for them to sell to support their life-saving research.

The shop, in the Market Place, would particularly like more men’s accessories, books, media, and children’s toys.

A spokeswoman said: “We are not government funded, meaning every customer and donor who supports our shop is helping our scientists to save lives.

“Each bag that is donated could be worth £25, based on the average bag value, and if the donor is a UK tax payer and they say ‘Yes’ to Gift Aid we can claim 25p for every £1, meaning the bag value could rise to £31 which goes directly to supporting our ground-breaking work.

“In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Our ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years.”
