Rush hour traffic came to a standstill after the A630 Doncaster Road in Thrybergh was closed following a crash.

Only moments afterwards the M18 northbound was closed between junctions two A1(M) and three, A6182 (St Catherines), because of an accident involving two lorries.

The M18 incident led to congestion at junction 1, A631 (Bramley) and on the A1(M) to junction 38, A638 (Red House), and the A630 collision resulted in slow traffic in both directions between the B6093 Ravenfield Lane junction and the Back Lane junction.

Commuters took to social media to tell of their nightmare journeys this morning.

Kerry Hounsell was among those affected by the gridlock, she said via Facebook: “Yep been sat on slip road since 745.”

On Twitter Gaz V8 Mad Robbo ‏@GazRo880 said: “Heavy congestion around Doncaster on M18 northbound and A1M southbound towards Doncaster.”
