Dragons and dancing for St George's market

There was dragon slaying aplenty in Sleaford's Market Place on Saturday to celebrate St George's Day.

The annual St George’s Market celebrations saw the Market Place full of stalls ranging from crafts to charities.

There were motorbike trikes on display too and the market was officially opened by the Mayor of Sleaford Coun Garry Titmus, John Griffiths the Town Crier and Vicar of Sleaford Rev Philip Johnson followed by a presentation of prizes to the winners and runners up of the primary schools colouring competition.

The day saw a packed schedule of entertainment with Kesteven Morris Dancers performing a traditional routine as well as spots by local singers and musicians.

The William Alvey School did a performance of St George and the Dragon too.

Charity stalls such as HART and the Sleaford and District Cats Protection had good days and the Royal British Legion Sleaford and District Branch raised over £200,

There was also a St George’s themed fancy dress competition with prizes.
