Drink driver admits ‘stupid mistake’ of getting behind wheel

A Retford man was given a 12-month roads ban after he admitted driving his car while over the limit.

Ben Rose, 30, of Milnercroft Road, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to driving with 43 mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 mcg.

Magistrates heard he had been stopped by police after he drove above the speed limit at Clarborough on October 31.

Rose, who represented himself, said he had drunk a beer “at some stage” during the day and said it had been a “stupid mistake”.

He wasa disqualified for 12 months, fined £300 with costs of £85, victim surcharge of £30 and criminal court charge of £150.
