Drink driver is banned

A ROW led to a three-year road ban for a Creswell man following his second drink-driving offence.

Police on patrol in Elmton Road at 1.30am on 15th October saw a Citroen Xsara braking for no apparent reason.

They followed it and when driver John Cheesman pulled up, officers smelled drink on him. He failed a roadside breath test.

Cheesman was arrested and later chose to supply a blood sample for analysis. It revealed 94mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood, the limit being 80mgs.

Cheesman, 48, of Model Village, admitted drink-driving.

Steve Brint, defending, told the court he had rowed over money with his partner.

“He was going to his son’s address to stay the night there and he was stopped en route,” he said. “He believed he would be just under the limit but he was just over.”

He was fined £339 and banned from driving for three years.
