Drivers warned of work on major Gainsborough road

Road works to replace worn out carriageway on a busy road through Gainsborough will begin next week.

The resurfacing work is taking place from the Heaton Street and Southolme junction with the A159, heading north towards Oldrids, from Monday, March 20.

The works are expected to last for two weeks, subject to reasonable weather conditions, and will take place between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm to minimise disruption.

Existing parking bays in the area will be suspended for the duration of the works to allow for them to be resurfaced.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire county council, said: “The current carriageway along Heaton Street / Southolme is nearing the end of its serviceable life, and intervention is now necessary to remove and replace failed surfacing. We ask for your patience while these works are being carried out as, once complete, they will prolong the working life of the road.”
