On searching him he found a piece of silver foil which contained heroin. In interview he said it was for his own use and was worth about £10.

Andrew Osborne, defending, said: “He is getting help from a drugs worker through his GP. He feels he is making progress but is finding it hard to get his heroin use down to zero.”

Martin was fined £100, with £25 costs. The bench ordered the heroin to be destroyed.
