Giles Academy pupil Jack Linter was handed the award by celebrity presenter, Nick Hewer, of TV’s The Apprentice and Countdown fame, after sharing his experiences with Trustee for the DofE, HRH The Earl of Wessex.

Acknowledged as the world’s leading achievement award for young people, DofE programmes enable young people aged 14-24 to develop key skills for life and work, such as confidence, commitment and team working.

Jack said: “When I got my Gold DofE award, no words could describe how proud I was to accomplish this achievement. It wasn’t an easy feat as it required a huge amount of time and effort; however, it was worth it in the end. I wanted to push myself, to see what I can accomplish and to also have fun with my friends. This whole experience has taught me so much. In the future, I want to use my skills which I have learnt to become a more confident and positive person. I recommend that everyone should take on the challenge and see what they could accomplish.”

Jack is currently completing a catering apprenticeship through Boston College and his placement is at Oldrid’s Department Store in Boston.
