Poppy pounds and parish council

Poppy pounds - In addition to the record door-to-door collection made by Shirley Booth in the village for the Royal British Legion during the annual Poppy Appeal, the box on the counter at East Barkwith Post Office contained £54.49, which had been donated by generous customers.

This too has gone to help servicemen and women and their families who are in need of support.

David and Sally Ward extend their thanks to all who contributed.

Parish council - The next parish council meeting will be held in the village hall on Thursday, January 21, starting at 8pm.

The main item will be the budget and setting the precept for the 2016 to 2017 financial year.

East Lindsey District Council has given notice that there will be no government support grant passed on from April 2016.

The authority has also advised that footway lights are also to be switched off unless parishes are willing to take over the cost of maintenance and the power supply in the future.
