East Lindsey food outlets set for new hygiene scheme

THE East Lindsey district has joined the Food Standard’s Agency’s (FSA) national food hygiene scheme, meaning there is set to be a change to the way food premises in our area are rated on their practices.

The change means wherever local people are in the UK, they will be able to make comparisons between food outlets before choosing where to spend their cash.

This will replace the three-star scheme specific to East Lindsey.

The scheme will begin in August, when food businesses will begin to be scored in line with the national five-star scheme thanks to an FSA grant of £5,300.

Portfolio holder for communities, Coun Sandra Harrison, said: “By joining the national scheme we hope local people will have more consistent information on the food hygiene standards at businesses they are buying food from.”

Food scores will be posted on www.e-lindsey.gov.uk.
