East Mids: Paramedics urge care in heat

Ambulance services across the East Midlands are urging people to take responsibilty and be careful in the sun after a rise in the number of calls during the recent heatwave.

Paramedic and operations support manager Steve Pratten said: “We received over 2,600 emergency and urgent calls last Saturday - a 15% increase in calls compared to the previous Saturday.” He urged people to stay hydrated and covered up, to use sunscreen and keep an eye on children and the elderly.
