Elaine is diving in for the Lord Mayor's swim

Elaine Hopkins, community fund-raiser for the Royal British Legion in Bassetlaw, will be taking the plunge next month to take part in a special charity swim.

Elaine, well known to Legion members in towns like Worksop and Retford, will join the Lord Mayor of Mayor of Nottingham, Coun Jackie Morris to help raise money for Notts Hospice.

Elaine and Coun Morris will be part of a seven-strong team who will be jumping into the pool at Notts High School for an hour and swimming laps to raise money for people in Nottinghamshire with life limiting and terminal illnesses.

This is truly a community event with the school kindly donating the time at the pool free of charge.

The Rotary Club of Sherwood Sunrisers are generously supporting with the organisation of the swim.

Elaine, the newest addition to the Notts Hospice team, has been friends with the mayor for a number of years and they have undertaken previous community supporting events together.

The Lord Mayor said: “I am thrilled to be supporting the hospice.

“I find it remarkable that the hospice provides so many services for the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire all without cost to the individual.

“Whatever bit I can do to help I will be honoured to.”
