EMAS offers 'deepest condolences' after fatal collision between ambulance and motorcycle

The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) have offered their 'deepest condolences' to the family of a 30-year-old motorcyclist who died following a collision with an ambulance yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Speaking this afternoon, Ben Holdaway, Director of Operations at EMAS, said: “We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the motorcyclist at this very difficult time.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident. The police are now carrying out an investigation into what happened, and it would therefore be inappropriate for us to make any further comment at this time.”

EMAS confirmed that it had been transporting a patient to Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby when the collision occured at around 6.30pm yesterday.

Multiple ambulance resources, including the air ambulance, attended the scene following the collision. It has also been confirmed that the crew and the patient on board the ambulance involved in the collision sustained no injuries, and the patient continued their journey to hospital in a different ambulance.
