FloodMobile roadshow heading around Lincolnshire to help at risk residents

Residents in Boston, Mablethorpe and Market Rasen will have the chance to find out more about protecting their properties from flooding when the Environment Agency's FloodMobile visits their town over the next few weeks.

The Lincolnshire tour starts in Boston on Wednesday, October 28, before heading to Mablethorpe on Wednesday, November 4 and then Market Rasen on Tuesday, December 8.

Often described as a 'flood house on wheels', the FloodMobile gives people the opportunity to step inside a typical home setting and see how a range of flood resilience products work in practice.

Flood doors, barriers, airbrick covers and non-return valves are among the measures on display.

Specialists from the Environment Agency, Lincolnshire County Council, the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum and partner organisations will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and offer advice.

The event is aimed at anyone who wants to better understand flood risk and the steps that can be taken to reduce the impact flooding can have on homes and businesses. Whether residents have experienced flooding before or simply want to know more about preparing for severe weather, they are encouraged to call in, ask questions and speak to the team.

Visitors will be able to get a closer look at the products on display and learn more about the different options available to property owners. As every building is different, the most suitable measures will depend on individual circumstances, but the FloodMobile is said to provide a useful starting point for anyone considering how to make their property more resilient.

You can also sign up for free flood warnings and get tips on what to put in a flood emergency bag.

Targeting areas which have been prone to flooding in the past, the FloodMobile will be Boston Market Place on Wednesday, October 28 from 9am to 3pm. Attendance is free and there is no need to book.

It will then at the Co-op on Seacroft Road between 11am and 4pm on Wednesday, November 4.

Then at Market Rasen Market Place between 9.30am and 2pm on Tuesday, December 8.
